St Bernardus – Abt 12

Brewery: St Bernardus Brouwerij in Watou, Belgium

Style: Abbey Strong Ale/Quad

ABV: 10%

Rate Beer: 100/100

Pour: Toffee rubiness in colour with a good head on pour that lasts for quite some time.

Made from the same recipe as the Westvleteren 12 and not surprisingly, tastes the same. A little less sweetness but a little more carbonated than the Westie (yeah I’m nicknaming it). I can’t say I got the same warming sensation as the Westie but it still has a rich flavour that suits a strong ale. As a cheaper alternative it works but I’m leaning towards the original Westvleteren.

I drink beer. And occasionally I'll write about it. But mostly, I drink beer.
