The nose is hit with a mix of pineapple, mango, coconut, citrus and cream. It’s quite overwhelming but gets the taste buds watering for that first sip. There’s an unusual element that almost seems smoky behind a hop bitterness you don’t expect with NEIPAs. Everything on the nose doesn’t follow up on the tongue which is odd. There’s an earthy flavour that comes through but it’s the bitterness that throws me here. And then it settles down to an enjoyable beer. It’s like a magician’s stock magic trick. Some slight of hand and deception to confuse you while he sneaks your watch off your wrist without you realising. This looks and smells like one thing, tastes another, and….damn it! where’s my bloody watch?
